About the author

The Alpine Security Monitor is an independent publication in weekly newsletter format with occasional special reports produced by Amanda Rivkin, a strategic communications professional with deep knowledge of security politics. She has worked as a senior expert at the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence in Riga, Latvia and as a paralegal for one of America's preeminent criminal defense attorneys specializing in national security cases. She previously spent more than a decade working as a press photographer, news writer, and editor for Deutsche Welle, The New York Times and other international publications in the US and Europe. Her photography has been exhibited in Italy, Spain, Syria and the US. She is a graduate of Georgetown University's Security Studies Program as well as the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
